Haiku Wine Tasting
We can’t all be winesperts overnight, but communication is important when searching for your next tasty bottle - you must get to know your own palette and feel comfortable speaking about it to others.
Tonight we’ll taste five different wines, discuss and write our own tasting notes using the Haiku poetry format…that’s three lines, in a 5-7-5 syllable pattern.
This casual, interactive tasting will help loosen your lips and even get your creative juices flowing. Don’t be shy, it’ll be fun and shake out some of the nerves we ALL have around tasting wine!
$20 tasting fee per person, 21+ only

Meet the Maker: Gideon Beinstock of Clos Saron
It all started in 1995 with a half acre of Cabernet Sauvignon planted in the wrong place…Now, Gideon Beinstock and his wife, Saron Rice, are regarded as some of the most influential winemakers of California. Tonight meet Gideon and taste some exceptional bottles from Clos Saron!
Their vineyards sit in an unusually cool microclimate in the Sierra Foothills, Yuba County. Many Clos Saron wines are very limited in quantity (like, less than 50 cases made), if you love CA wine, are interested in viticulture or agriculture in general, or just fucking love natural wine - don’t miss this.

Eric's Picks: Vinea Imports
Y’all know me, the retailer, and you know there is a winemaker who produces the wine…but betwixt us is a whole system of distribution that is so, so important! These are the importers, distributors and sales people who work behind the scenes to make sure we have the bottles that we want, the information that we need and the wine gears stay well-oiled all year ‘round.
Eric Stone (aka Papa Stone), of Vinea Import, is like a second father to many of us in the wine industry of Seattle. He loves sherry, jamon, his daughters and a good party! Today I hand my wine key, and bank account, over to Eric to select ANY of his favorite wines from the Vinea portfolio to taste!!
No rules, just Eric’s picks - maybe we’ll open some sleeper wines that have been quietly aging in the corner of the warehouse…maybe a rare Oloroso…France, Spain, Portugal?? Come find out!

Wine Tasting: Meet Winemaker Tom Monroe of Division Wine Co.
Tom Monroe is co-co-co: He’s co-owner, co-winemaker of Division Winemaking Co. and he’s here tonight to taste with us at the shop!
Tom got his start in banking, but was drawn to wine for its unique trifecta of people+science+art. He believes that with winemaking, the goal is to let the grapes and the sites express themselves; like a chef with food, if you over season something it takes away the nature and beauty of the produce you sourced for your dish. He and his partner, Kate Norris, aim to make beautiful wines without stepping in too hard, they’re constantly trying to reduce how much they intervene, while still providing enough guidance to create something unique and distinct.
Show up tonight for Tom and his delicious Oregon wines - Division is best known for making AMAZING Gamay, but we will have a spectrum of reds, whites and orange.

$25 tasting fee, wine club members get to bring a buddy for free!
Virginia's Picks: Strade Bianche
Today I’m thrilled to have industry veteran Virginia Samsel at the shop sharing her favorite wines form the importer Strade Bianche. This tasting is part of a summer series where I invite my colleagues in distribution to come out from behind the curtain - I hand over my wine key, and bank account, to give them an chance to show us a few of their favorite bottles!
As the global movement toward organics, naturalism and sustainability grows stronger, so does the curiosity in exactly what that all means…How does it relate to wine? Virginia is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to this topic - the health of vineyards and the greater impacts of (and on) the industry. Using her favorite examples from the Strade Bianche portfolio, she can walk you through the nuts-and-bolts of biodynamic practices, regenerative farming and how it ultimately impacts the wine in your glass!
$20 tasting fee, wine club members get to bring a free friend!

Milan's Picks: Owen Kotler Selections
Milan Prince, of Owen Kotler Selections, is one of my guardian angels who juggles orders, procures fulfillments and holds a ton of information about each of the producers, regions, varietals and specific bottles that pass through the OK warehouse throughout the year. Milan is a real pro, and part of the very important system of distribution that gets the wine from the maker to your glass!
She’s a recent transplant from New York, happens to be a gem of a human, and is very generous with her knowledge - tonight it’s all about Milan’s favorites and I can’t wait to see what she picks for tasting tonight!

Un Piquito Pause: Pilates + Mexican Wine!
Tonight - bring your mat and a smile for a Pilates session with Celeste Caliri on the grass followed by sips of Mexican wine and the opportunity to sign-up for a Pilates retreat in Sayulita. Celeste has been teaching Stott Pilates, both mat and equipment, for 20 years. She shows her clients that their training can go beyond the borders of the studio and applies to everyday movements, higher endurance activities and, in her case, keeping up with a 6 year old child!
She started teaching in a small studio in Kailua, Hawaii, where her focus was surf and turf training for triathletes and weekend warriors wanting to keep their bodies doing what they love for a long time. It's the clients during this time that taught her how a weekly class can feel like a warm family gathering -making muscles quiver while cracking up. She's now in Seattle, in a beautiful studio perched above Fremont, and brings that same personable approach, a very diverse background of movement, and a little bit of Aloha.
After you giggle, shake, stretch and strengthen - pop into the shop for some Mexican wine and learn about the Powerful Pause Celeste has planned in Sayulita.

Local Tide Dinner x Bloomberg Green Festival
Meet the Locals is a dinner series hosted by the Bloomberg Green Festival, in conjunction with The Green Restaurant Series and Green Bar Activations that will be held at some of Seattle’s most notable restaurants and bars in July. The restaurants have been selected for their commitment to sustainability….like Fremont favorite Local Tide!! Join us for a delicious dinner experience at Local Tide by Chef Victor Steinbrueck, pours from Imperfetta and words from the Puget Sound Restoration Fund.
On theme, I will be selecting local wines from the PNW and northern California to compliment the amazing dinner Victor has planned. The seafood-focused, five course meal is $100/seat, with optional wine pairings for $25 - limited seating available get your seats here!!
Winemaker Vivian Kennedy of RAM Cellars Shorty Takeover!
Join me, Vivian and Vin2U for a shorty takeover this afternoon. Meet the maker and have some sips before you go paint the town red (and orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) for Seattle Pride weekend!
RAM Cellars is a relative newcomer to the PNW wine landscape, working within the Portland Urban Winery Association to produce a range of natural wines from Oregon and Washington vineyards. These wines are tasty, thoughtful and lean into traditional techniques, but definitely have a fresh perspective.
Because I admire how involved Vivian is in her community, like donating $3 per bottle of VIV wines to partner organizations who support queer and transgender communities (currently Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund, Portland’s Q Center, Trans Lifeline!), I too will donate $3 for every bottle of RAM Cellars wine we sell today!

Shorty Takeover w/Josefa of Louis/Dressner
Let’s begin at the beginning…over thirty years ago two young grad students, who knew nothing about wine or the industry, started Louis/Dressner Selections, now one of the most respected wine import portfolios in the US (Denyse Louis + Joe Dressner = xoxo).
Louis/Dressner was founded on the relationships they cultivated with each and every producer, and from there amassed a far-reaching family tree rooted in the integrity of the wines they represent. It is a human business, a family business. Josefa is one of those humans, and chosen family, that makes it all possible. Josefa is the National Sales Representative, Herder of Cats and wine-counter-cultural-explore-dinaire!
Join me, Josefa and Shawn Mead of Joyous Society today for a line-up of extra special shorty pours!

Diego's Picks: Chausse Selections
Chausse Selections is a relative newcomer to the Seattle market, ipso-facto many of the wines in this portfolio are also new!! Diego Sheridan, however, has been kicking around the area in wholesale and retail for a few years now, hailing from institutions like McCarthy & Shiering, and hot spots like Other World.
Don’t let his blazing good looks fool you, his depth of knowledge is vast and so today I give Diego the reigns to pour his selection of wines from the Chausse portfolio. If you are curious to deep-dive into the world of low-intervention wines (most of these wines are zero sulfur) this is the tasting for you. No real structure, just some of Diego’s favorites!

A Singles Mingle w/ Windward Adventures
Tonight is a single varietal wine tasting WITH a la carte snacks by Windward Adventures
The grape tonight is Grenache, Garnatxa, Canonau…whatever you want to call it. There are almost as many names for this grape as there are ways to make it and enjoy it.
We will open Grenache from around the world - both reds and whites! By tasting these bottles side-by-side we can experience the similarities and differences with a bit more acuity to see how much the place and winemaker influence each bottle. I aim to highlight why, when you step outside of your expectations of ‘what wine is supposed to be’ , you enter a whole realm of character, expression and delightful variation.
The wines are single…what about you?? Maybe you won’t be by the end of the night…
