“Ekiben bento culture was invented when the first railway in Japan opened. Pre-made lunches packaged in wooden boxes were being sold at train stations across Japan. Ekiben styles soon caught on as each station had their own regional take often using local, fresh ingredients. Made to nourish those moving, and growing wherever one goes.”
