I recently learned that two of my favorite winemakers from the Maule Valley, David Marcel (of Viña Maitia) and Louis-Antoine Luyt, were practically neighbors…and also good buddies!! Frenchmen who were brought to Chile for very different reasons and found their path making unique wines that range from soulful to crushable - but always speak honestly of their place and practices. Having these wines together in one tasting tells a story with parallels and intersections, similarities and differences.
